    Premiere sold out!

on September 27th, 2010, by Ton

    Hi all,

Just got a note that the 450 seats for the premiere all have been sold or reserved. I don’t know if you can get on a waiting list there… best is to contact the festival itself then. Alternative is to attend the thursday evening screening.

    13. Bitetti Says:

      Congratulations for all group!

    14. J. Says:

      Awesome, see you tonight!

    15. David Mulder Says:

Was there yesterday during the first screening and enjoyed sintel really much, although I got to say I thought the story would have had a bit more of a cliche ending, so that was great XD. Well, @everybody who’s going today, have fun!

BTW, yesterday was sold out as well, so I guess sintel is doing pretty well ๐Ÿ™‚ (3 of my friends couldn’t come yesterday as it was sold out)

    16. mk1 Says:

and as celebration, you made a new header?
I want to be there to T.T are you going to make a countdown for the internet release, too?

    17. J. Says:

And also Holland’s short animation Oscar submission played during that screening, btw.

The ending is great and original indeed! (more about that when the film is released, I keep my mouth shut tight)

    18. mk1 Says:

Question: Is the film in 21:9 or 16:9 or are there going to be two versions of it?
2nd Question: are you going to make a 3D Version of it?

    19. J. Says:

The film is framed and rendered for scope. (the 35mm print anamorphic, so we get an epic wide movie filling the cinema screen to the outer edges!)

3D version… maybe, it’s a hell of a job to do it right and a creative process, not just a technical push-on-the-button thing.

    20. John Says:

Durian Team – well done !

im super excitied to see this !

will it be availible in worldwide cinema screens ?

i hope too see this in Australia !

      it looks amazing !

      4 hours.
      240 minutes.
      14400 seconds.
Why does that sound so long????

    22. wo262 Says:

      03:30:30

    23. David Mulder Says:

Concerning the ratio of the video, it was fun to see how they had to ‘widen’ the width of the screen when they wanted to play Sintel and if I remember correctly it was the only animated short (out of 10) which used this ratio XD (I am not into this part of film production, so that’s why I might be describing it a bit simplistically XD)

    24. Anonymous Says:

2Ton: I’m second to TFS’ question. Do you have any ideas about the next project (Will it be in 2011, at least?)? Thanks.

    25. maddes Says:

Regarding the next open Movie (codename Mango) there was this statement in this Interview:
      http://www.blenderguru.com/interview-with-ton-roosendaal/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+BlenderGuru+%28Blender+Guru%29

      Ton said:
“The idea Iโ€™m playing with is code named Mango. It will have focus on visual effects for film, having good tracking tools for example, more realistic lighting and shading, and advanced grading tools.”

    46. Guybrush Says:

This is currently a sad moment. I’m sitting in Germany, and only a few hundered kilometers away, there is exactly NOW the premiere :o(

    47. Mirata Says:

I’m just about 7 kilometers away from where the premiere was held, couldn’t make it, sadly. Anyway, I hope the premiere went well! Can’t wait for the online release. ๐Ÿ™‚

    48. Me Says:

      Where is the camrip :D????

    49. Tim Blokdijk Says:

Just returned from the ‘real’ premiรจre, the film has been improved on a lot of small key points. Also the sound was clearly better then the initial screening in Studio-K.

    50. Benoรฎt Says:

I’m just back from the premiere too…it was awesome!
And seeing a bunch of the gang in real life was quite awesome as well! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    51. Big Fan Says:

Come on please someone tell us how it was received…. all Blenderheads are proud relatives too ๐Ÿ˜‰

    52. jay Says:

Ah Cheers to that! Let the baby out into the world! October will be a fine month indeed

    53. Esther Says:

      Dearly beloved Blender fans,
What an honour to see so many of your replies on our site just before, during and after the premiere! Sounds like you were just as excited as all of us were. The event was truly special, sold out cinema (only Blender / Durian / Sintel fans obviously ;-)), Ton made a great and fetching speech, and during the film you could hear a pin drop, as one would say in Dutch… What more can a screenwriter aim and wish for? Well: for a director to turn that story into visual moments packed with all the emotion and action we envisioned in the beginning, and a team as talented as ours, who pushed through and made it all happen! I am very proud, happy and grateful.

Go Sintel! I release you now to go and conquer the world…. ๐Ÿ™‚

Love, and thank you all for all the amazing, wonderful support from all over the world,
      X Esther

    54. Big Fan Says:

      Thanks lovely Esther,
Ton always likes the opportunity to make large important say so’s ๐Ÿ˜€
Possibly the audience was too frightened by Ton to move during the film.
As long as they voluntarily applauded afterwards its cool though.
Looking forward to the download in a few days.

    55. DudeFromKansas Says:

I will be looking forward to seeing it Thursday. Congratulations to you all and a job well done!

    56. J. Says:

Just returned, I’ve been there till late hours and I live many kilometers away from Utrecht, but it was definitely worth it, one of the greatest and most awesome nights in my entire life!

And…. I’ve made a lot of mediocre pictures with another one’s digital cam, but I will look what I can put online, including Ton in party-mode.

And sorry Colin for interrupting your talk with Jan! ๐Ÿ˜›

      Technical stuff:
The 35mm print was very good, incredibly sharp and the projection of the theatre was excellent!
Sound was also very good, but the theatre accoustics are a bit too reverberant. (but theatre 3 has really bad accoustics, a good sound engineer would bite his fingers off when he hears that)
Jan has done an incredible job on the sound, the sound of the adult dragon heavy!!!!!!

      I drunk 7 cola this night, so I hope I can sleep…

Tomorrow more, I got so much too tell!

      Good morning everyone!

Just a quick thank you to the entire community, those who were there last night and those who didn’t make it! The premiere was awesome. Even though the team members have all seen the movie far too many times by now, hearts were pounding as it was played on the big screen. It was a sight to see!

We had an awesome party after the movie… I am somewhat hung over, but that suits the occasion. What a night, what a movie, what a project!

    63. joeri67 Says:

      @J. : lol.

    64. J. Says:

      I don’t get it, I drunk 7 cola, as I said, but I slept very well…

Still hungover as well, trying my best to work on the DVD today as a normal day, but is almost impossible ๐Ÿ™‚ specially with some of the team members here after such a long time.

Now Colin is saying goodbye everyone ๐Ÿ™

    67. Pablo Vazquez Says:

BTW, the movie will be online in just a couple days, lets keep spoilers away still please ๐Ÿ˜€ just a few more days and thats all!

    68. Piiichan Says:

I’ll wait a few additional months to see the movie.

I don’t want to watch it online, I’ll wait for my DVD, so I can enjoy it in full quality in the best viewing environment possible!

Until then, I’ll stay away from spoilers….

    69. maddes Says:

No, we don’t want to hear any spilers (though you made me really more courious about the end !), but hey, some info about the event?
      Fotos from the red carpet?
A video of Ton talking to the audience?
      Reactions of the Audience?

Oh, i wish i could have been there!

    70. nawabz Says:

i feel like spoiling it for everyone but i dont think its fair. email me if you feel on the edge

    71. Generic Name Says:

With Sintel I think it would be no problem to sell ten times as many tickets. (Sadly there is no cinema that big.)

Also – MANGO!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I wonder what it will be about. And now to get pumped up for the next project:
